Desert Shores
We made it. 2,500 miles. 11 days. 55 hours behind the wheel including fuel stops. And now we are in beautiful southern California at the stunning Desert Shores Motorcoach Resort.
This is our site for the next two months.
You can just make out the back of our coach on the side of our coach house.
A better view of the back of the coach.
Lots of space on the pad. We could easily fit four vehicles along with the coach in this driveway.
We do not have the use of the coach house during our stay. This site is for sale and the coach house does not have any furnishings.
It is a good size though, easily 1,000 square feet or more.
The front of the site includes a private pool and spa. I know, I know. We are living the tough life in retirement.
Each site is secluded. The landscaping provides isolation from the neighbouring sites.
And the views! We have water, palm trees and beautiful landscapes nestled amongst the mountains.
Getting ourselves settled in and looking forward to spending a few months here before making the long drive back to Canada in April.
Last driving video from The Motorcoach Resort in Chandler, Arizona to Desert Shores.
In the video, if you wonder what happened to all of the fruit that we removed from our coach, we gave it away to another family. It did not go to waste. And the state of California can breathe a little easier knowing that we did not illegally transport any restricted fruits.
That is incredible!! What a dream place!! Enjoy!
We are very blessed and very thankful to be able to enjoy these wonderful parks with our motorcoach.
We’ve been full timing for 15 years and then we found this hidden gem.
StoneRidge Golf and Recreational Community in northern Idaho.
We’ll have to add this to our list of parks to visit when we are in the states. Looks beautiful! Thank you for passing this along.
I’m assuming you’re in Canada as we speak?
Good resorts in Canada are few and far between. However, we’ve found a ton of excellent “Provincial Parks” …..state campgrounds, if you will, that are excellent (For Canada). We like Marco Polo Land on Prince Edward Island and Parkers Cove in Nova Scotia. But they’re in a different league compared to resorts in the US. Tunnel Mountain II is fair as well near Banff.

Indeed. Back home until November then off to Myakka River Motorcoach Resort in Florida. We have not found anything in Canada that compares to the top RV resorts we have visited in the States. They just do not exist here. For this summer, we are staying at a very nice, adult-only section at the Barrie KOA in Ontario. Large sites, all concrete pads, private and quiet. Suits us just fine and we will take a few breaks here and there for a change of scenery until we make our way south.
I would think that this would be the number one reason to own a Class A. So, have you folks put together a list of what it costs to live like this in retirement? We are about 5 to 10 years out, and considering a Class A to start enjoying time away. Same as your situation, but curious about the costs to stay at places like this. Mike
On a rental basis, Desert Shores is likely one of the most expensive RV resorts in North America. The posted monthly lease rates on their website as of January 2020 range from $4,000 USD to $8,000 USD. You have to stay a minimum of one month.
We budget $3,000 USD per month for sites when we are in the United States. Some months we spend less and other months we spend more.
