Day 10 And It Just Gets Better Every Day
Lost. In exile. With no place to go.
Yesterday our government took additional steps to further restrict citizen liberties. They closed all private seasonal campgrounds in Ontario.
My note to the management at our seasonal site here in Canada:
We understand that the government of Ontario updated their list of essential businesses today and it now includes the following:
13. Hotels, motels, other shared rental accommodation including student residences, except for seasonal campgrounds and any pools, fitness centres, meeting rooms and other recreational facilities that may be part of the operations of these businesses.
It appears as though seasonal campgrounds must close by Saturday [today]. Could you let us know whether this impacts our seasonal site?

Hello Richard,
I hope you and Lorraine are well. I did receive your voicemail yesterday and had hoped to get back to you sooner, but of course with these new developments the day just got away from me.
I have drafted a letter that will be going out to all our seasonal guests shortly. Please just know that we are continuing to do everything possible to be able to remain open for our full time guests, at minimum. With the state of emergency in place until April 13th we are hoping to know more and have more clarification this coming week.
I apologize I don’t have a more black and white answer for you at this time. We will continue to seek out this clarification moving forward.

With the government suggesting that they will keep stringent measures in place for the next several months, I have no idea what we will do for a home base in Ontario. We cannot stay where we are for much longer.

Hi guys!
We’re in the same predicament! Not only might the park not open – we can’t get access to our trailer even if it did! Destination RV has had it since we left in October to do the repair work. Since they knew we couldn’t move it to the park until May 1, they didn’t rush. Now they say they’re having problems getting parts due to this virus! We’re homeless! Thank God our friends Lynn and Benny are letting us stay with them right now, but we can’t stay forever! We’re really at a loss as to what to do! If you figure it out, let us know. 😊

I’m hoping that an exception will be made for those of us that full-time. I’ll post on this blog as soon as we find out although I would expect Barrie KOA will do the same.
Thanks for sharing your return story Richard and Lorraine. A very interesting read! Miss you both, and thinking of you during what has surely been a very stressful (and sometimes boring!) time. Just a few more days to go to get a bit more freedom. Fingers crossed that the gov’t will soon clarify re seasonal sites, and that common sense will prevail.

The few sites that stay open year-round are not impacted only the seasonal ones which suggests that long-term stays should be fine. I guess we will find out over the next week or so. It is crazy how fast this situation keeps changing. Makes life a wee bit challenging for everyone.

Thank you for passing this along!! I forwarded the amended order to our park. Hopefully we will have a home for the summer. As retirees that move our homes on wheels between the United States and Canada, we are unique and we still need a place to park. I’ll post once I have heard official word from our park.
